Mark Broadie
Mark Broadie is the Carson Family Professor of Business at Columbia Business School. Professor Broadie’s research addresses issues in sports analytics and quantitative finance and, more generally, methods for decision making under uncertainty. In his golf research, Broadie developed the strokes gained methodology that is used by the PGA Tour, other professional tours and many golf apps. He developed ranking algorithms used by the Official World Golf Rankings, the NCAA golf rankings and the Professional Disc Golf Association. He works with a number of PGA Tour pros and coaches, was an advisor to the International Team in the 2022 Presidents Cup, and has consulted for the PGA Tour and the USGA. His New York Times bestselling book Every Shot Counts uses data and analytics to measure and improve golf performance and strategy. Professor Broadie received a BS from Cornell University and a PhD from Stanford University.
